Owner
Mr. Terry has been in the LP Gas industry for over 30 years, beginning his career in high school working in his family’s propane business in San Antonio, Texas. During his high school and college days, Mr. Terry was involved at all levels of operations, from filling cylinders to driving bobtails and transport. Upon graduating from college, Mr. Terry returned to his family’s business where he served as Vice President before moving on to a larger opportunity with a regional propane company, Pinnacle Propane. At Pinnacle, Mr. Terry served as the Director of Safety, Director of Project Management and most recently as the Director of Mergers and Acquisitions.
Mr. Terry is highly involved in the LP Gas industry at both the state and national levels. He has served as District Director and Vice President of the Texas Propane Gas Association and is a past Advisory Committee Chairman for the Texas Railroad Commission, the state’s regulatory agency. His national involvement includes membership on the Safety and Training Advisory Committee and the Marketing Outreach Committee for the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC). He has also served as a member of the National Propane Gas Association’s Technology, Safety and Standards Committee as well as the Propane Political Action Committee. Mr. Terry earned a B.B.A. in Marketing from Texas Tech University.
Rusty Janssen
Chief Executive Officer
With over 30 years of leadership experience across multiple industries—including propane distribution, solid waste management, oilfield services, wastewater management, computer software, and manufacturing—Rusty Janssen has established himself as a transformational leader with a track record of scaling businesses, driving operational efficiency, and executing disciplined M&A strategies.
As the CEO of Matador Gas, Rusty has significantly grown the company through strategic acquisitions and organic growth while transforming Matador from a decentralized, mom-and-pop-style operation into a data-driven regional leader in propane distribution. Under his leadership, the company has expanded into new geographic regions, added lines of service, and improved operational efficiency. Previously, as EVP of LRS South, Rusty oversaw a large regional operation in the solid waste management sector, leading all business functions, managing a network of 12 field operations across four states, and spearheading M&A efforts that resulted in four strategic acquisitions. His leadership ensured LRS South remained the company’s top-performing region in operating margin, organic growth, and safety. Rusty’s entrepreneurial acumen is further demonstrated through his successful ventures, including Alpha Oilfield Water Services, which he founded, funded, and grew from concept to profitability within three years, and Greenthumb Nursery & Landscaping, which he co-founded with his wife and continues to provide financial oversight for. Throughout his career, Rusty has consistently demonstrated the ability to drive revenue growth, optimize operations, and foster high-performing teams. He holds an MBA from Washington University’s John M. Olin School of Business and a B.S.B.A. in Computer Information Systems from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, graduating Cum Laude. Rusty lives in Dover Arkansas and when he isn’t working enjoys spending time with his family, especially outdoors while hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing. A strategic thinker and results-oriented executive, Rusty thrives in fast-paced environments where innovation, leadership, and data-driven decision-making are key to success.
Josh Kasprzak
Executive Vice-President
I’m Josh Kasprzak,(Josh) Executive Vice-President here at Matador Gas. I lead our Sales and Marketing efforts, but more than anything, I’m passionate about people, our customers, our team, and the communities we serve. I believe in building real connections and creating a culture where everyone feels valued, empowered, and inspired to do their best work.
Before joining Matador in 2023, I helped build Texas Star Propane (founded in 2009) and Texas Star Power (launched in 2017) from the ground up. Over the years, we grew those businesses to two locations and more than 45 employees, always with a focus on service, trust, and teamwork. I haven’t had many jobs over the years. Back in high school in the late 90s, my career actually began at Discount Tire Company, where I spent nine years, working my way into various management roles. I was honored to receive the Employee of the Month Award for the Houston region in October 2005, chosen from nearly 2,000 team members. When I left Discount Tire as a Senior Assistant Manager in the late 2000s, I sold John Deere tractors while taking a leap of faith to co-found Texas Star Propane, and I’ve never looked back. Even now, over 25+ years later, I still carry many of Discount Tire’s core values with me every day. Their commitment to treating people with respect and fairness, always doing what is right, caring for customers, and working hard laid the foundation for how I approach business, leadership, and life. Those principles helped shape the kind of entrepreneur I’ve become, and they continue to guide me as we build and grow with Matador. What drives me most is helping people grow. I love seeing our staff members recognize their potential and take pride in what they do. I’ve always had a knack for striking up conversations, listening to others, and making people feel seen and that’s been the secret sauce throughout my journey. I am an amazing and strong believer in promoting from within and seeing the success of someone starting from the bottom and working their way up! Outside of work, I’m a proud husband to my amazing supportive wife Jennifer, going strong for over 16 years, and a dad to three awesome kids, 2 sons and 1 daughter. They keep life fun and full of purpose. When I’m not working, I love to attempt to golf and hunt, but you’ll usually find me with my family and closest friends at our family lake house, soaking up the good times and making memories that matter most. And just to keep it real: I once tried college for a semester and quickly realized it wasn’t my thing. Instead, I jumped into the workforce full-time and discovered that hands-on experience was the path for me. If we haven’t met yet, I’d love to get to know you. Don’t hesitate to reach out, I’m always up for a conversation.
